Program Level: Beginner

This course is designed for new purchasers who want to build a strong foundation in inventory and purchasing processes using Prophet 21. You’ll start by understanding why effective inventory management is essential for controlling costs and improving operational efficiency. From there, you’ll explore the four purchasing methods available in Prophet 21 and gain hands-on experience creating purchase orders manually. Next, you’ll learn how to streamline purchasing with PO Requirements Generation (PORG), including reviewing items for purchase and setting up automated purchasing. Finally, you’ll learn how to supercharge PORG with Epicor Inventory Planning & Optimization (IP&O). This optional software does automatic forecasting, custom probability modeling of future service vs stock out odds, and dynamic en-masse setting of reorder policy.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the knowledge and practical skills to manage purchasing confidently and efficiently within Prophet 21.
